Assistant WMA Biologist, 83 – Statewide, MS

Salary: $56,088.28 per annum

Full-time position located in the Wildlife Bureau at the MS Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks. The role serves as an Assistant Wildlife Biologist/Supervisor over the Southwest Wildlife Management Areas.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 4 to 6 years of experience in relevant field.

The mission of the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks is to conserve and enhance Mississippi’s wildlife, fisheries, and parks, provide quality outdoor recreation, and engage the public in natural resource conservation.

Seasoned professional in environmental/natural resources with deep technical knowledge or thorough knowledge of multiple areas. Must interpret principles, theories, and concepts of a scientific specialty and regulatory requirements. Recognized statewide expert, influence standards at agency, state, national levels. Prepare and review technical documents to ensure regulatory compliance; provide input and recommendations in legislation and rules. Assist with technical leadership, developing and implementing strategies and procedures for collection, analysis, and interpretation of environmental and natural resources data;

design research; review technical work of others. Knowledge of wildlife management, infrastructure management, and heavy equipment operation and maintenance needed to assist management decisions on the Southwest WMAs.
