Job Summary: Perform daily operations for project warehouse facilities including material receiving and handling, inventory maintenance and control, filing of field requisitions, staging and preparation of materials for field installation, and issuance of material, tools, equipment and fleet. Significant interaction with discipline superintendents, construction teams, site management and office personnel.
Key Responsibilities- Move freight and other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, ships or containers by hand or using trucks, tractors or other equipment.
- Sort cargo before or after loading or unloading.
- Attach identifying tags to containers or mark them with identifying information.
- Observe incoming materials, equipment or systems to identify hazards and act in a manner to prevent exposure.
- Handle shipping and receiving documentation; read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material needs.
- Assist with project mobilization and demobilization planning and coordination.
- Verify purchase orders against packing lists.
- Evaluate small tools and equipment and complete necessary repairs.
- Perform routine maintenance work and examine tools and equipment for problems or cost‑saving opportunities.
- Take corrective action and enter data into automated asset/material systems.
- Participate in all safety‑related processes and programs.
- Engage with the work team to achieve zero injuries and maintain a safe environment.
- Report hazards, accidents, near misses, and participate in investigations as needed.
- Attend site‑specific training and follow safety rules and regulations.
- Communicate effectively, coordinate work with other crafts, and provide on‑the‑job training and mentoring to helpers and laborers.
- NCCER Rigger or NCCER Heavy Equipment Operations certification.
At least 3 years of experience in a warehouse or similar craft and strong knowledge of material receiving, handling, inventory management, staging, and issuance of materials, tools, and equipment.
Ability to understand and follow directions; must possess all necessary tools.
Must be at least 18 years old and able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, motor‑vehicle records).
Physical Demands- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move in confined spaces.
- Perform repetitive movements and use hands for handling objects.
- Climb and maintain balance on steel frameworks, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
- Work up to a 12‑hour shift in varying temperature extremes.
- Typical construction site environment.
- Work in cramped spaces and awkward positions.
- Exposure to hot or cold temperatures and inclement weather.
- Exposure to bright or poor lighting and noise.
- Work around hazardous equipment.
- Position is safety sensitive.
