Accounts Payable Clerk

Description

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to support daily accounting operations in Cleveland, Ohio. This role combines high-volume invoice processing with broader accounting support, making it a strong fit for someone who is comfortable balancing transactional accuracy with month-end responsibilities. The position will work closely with internal teams and vendors to keep payments, reconciliations, and financial records current and well organized.

This is a direct hire position with standard in office business hours; 7AM-4PM, 8AM-5PM. or 9AM-6PM.

Responsibilities:

- Manage the full accounts payable cycle for two locations, including reviewing invoices, assigning general ledger codes, entering vouchers, and issuing payments through checks, wires, and other approved methods.

- Prepare journal entries and assist with closing activities by supporting monthly and annual general ledger processes.

- Perform account reconciliations, accrual calculations, and cost reviews to help maintain accurate financial reporting.

- Track revenues, expenses, cash activity, and intercompany balances to ensure transactions are recorded correctly.

- Produce recurring financial summaries and ad hoc reports for management using Excel and other accounting tools.

- Investigate outstanding invoices and resolve payment discrepancies by coordinating with vendors and internal departments.

- Partner with purchasing, operations, and accounting staff to improve the timeliness and accuracy of invoice processing.

- Contribute to audit preparation by gathering documentation and assisting with bank and external audit requests.

- Provide flexible accounting support on special projects and other departmental tasks as business needs arise.

Requirements - Prior experience in accounts payable with responsibility for invoice coding, payment processing, and vendor support.

- Ability to work effectively in a high-volume environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.

- Working knowledge of general accounting functions, including journal entries and account reconciliations.

- Strong Excel skills, including the ability to build and use pivot tables for reporting and analysis.

- Experience with check runs, invoice review, and general ledger coding.

- Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external vendors.

- Familiarity with accounting systems and reporting tools; additional ERP experience is helpful.
