Position Summary: CHN is looking for an experienced Construction Superintendent who will be responsible for overseeing all facets of construction for Single Family Preservation, from project conception to successful project completion. This position works closely with other SFP staff and oversees third‑party contractors and trades in a variety of programs and administers home repair and acquisition rehabilitation projects through construction, punch list completion, and project closeout.

This includes managing the project budget, timeline, and compliance with funding requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Utilize excellent written and oral communication skills, leading group discussions, to staff project kickoff meetings and ensure all details and intentions of each project are understood and met from the outset.
  • Attend and contribute to site walkthroughs regularly, and closely oversee third‑party contractors and trades to consistently ensure timely project completions, while developing strong working relationships with partners.
  • Review construction documents to ensure compliance with building program requirements and perform field/safety inspections to ensure onsite compliance with OSHA standards.
  • When procuring necessary project permits, coordinate with local municipality staff and politicians, exercise strong negotiating skills, and maintain the highest levels of professionalism.
  • Pay close attention to detail in providing solutions to problems as they arise, provide leadership on new project types, ensuring consistent successful construction close‑out and coordinated turnover of property.
  • Ensure that all product warranties and installation warranties are properly retained and passed on to the clientele as needed, and at all times facilitate positive relationships with other CHN departments and outside agencies to ensure successful project completion.
  • Additional responsibilities: Learn and utilize Builder Trend and/or other construction management software to efficiently manage construction projects, help develop schedules, adjust as necessary to meet project deadlines, inspect work performed, and approve invoices.

Skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including demonstrated skill in group discussions.
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, and ability to learn new construction software.
  • Strong negotiating skills and sound political acumen.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and evaluate construction documents.
  • Self‑motivated with excellent problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service orientation.
  • Ability to take initiative and improve efficiency of work responsibilities.
