Overview
Join to apply for the Intervention Specialist role at Oakmont Education. The Intervention Specialist is responsible for all aspects of Special Education services and compliance and may provide additional intervention to students not identified for Special Education services as needed. The Intervention Specialist must be knowledgeable and proactively stay up to date on all laws pertaining to special education.
Responsibilities- Manages the day-to-day work of their students and the safety and welfare of the students, including standards-based curriculum and assessment development, instruction and supervision, guidance, academic and character development, and student safety.
- Agrees with and is committed to the academic goals and philosophy of Oakmont Education.
- Understands, abides by, and implements the policies, directives, and guidelines set forth by the management company.
- Leads the response to Intervention process and effectively communicates with teachers, parents, and administrators to facilitate the IEP process.
- Accurately and efficiently maintains Individual Educational Programs (IEP’s) and students’ files; remains current on rules and regulations in special education.
- Creates and manages a caring, supportive, purposeful, and stimulating learning environment; develops instructional plans aligned to state standards and implements the school’s Instructional Framework with fidelity.
- Teaches all subjects following the school’s course of study or as assigned; uses data and assessments to drive instruction; differentiates instruction to meet varying learning needs.
- Collaborates with staff to maximize use of support personnel and resources; ensures high standards of achievement and an orderly, motivational school culture.
- Completes written IEP progress reports at least quarterly and maintains confidentiality of student records.
- Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s degree preferred. - Current ODE License as an Intervention Specialist required;
Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) status in teaching assignment. - Experience with 1–2 years working with students with disabilities; experience with ETRs/IATs and writing IEPs preferred.
- Must pass a BCI/FBI Background check and comply with relevant Ohio regulations.
- Proficiency with technology; exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills; strong organizational abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment; willingness to go above and beyond to support students.
This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment. The employee may be required to work with students with behavioral risks and may occasionally need to restrain students. Attendance at meetings outside of regular hours may be required. Employment involves handling sensitive information and the responsibility to follow laws, regulations, and procedures, plus maintaining effective communication with staff, students, and parents.
