Overview
The Intervention Specialist is responsible for all aspects of Special Education services and compliance and may provide additional intervention to students not identified for Special Education services as needed. The Intervention Specialist must stay knowledgeable about and proactively implement current laws pertaining to special education.
Responsibilities- Manage the day-to-day work of their students and ensure the safety and welfare of the students, including standards-based curriculum and assessment development, instruction and supervision, guidance, academic and character development, and student safety.
- Collaborate with the classroom teacher to meet student needs, teach IEP goals, and follow IEP provisions.
- Lead the Response to Intervention (RTI) process and maintain accurate records for IEPs and student files.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and administrators to facilitate the IEP process; stay current on rules and regulations governing special education.
- Provide specialized instruction to students with special needs in one-on-one, small-group, or inclusion settings in accordance with IEPs.
- Prepare instructional lesson plans aligned to state standards and implement the instructional framework with fidelity; use data and assessments to drive instruction.
- Differentiate instruction, manage classroom environments, and provide opportunities for student involvement in activities outside the classroom.
- Collaborate with staff to improve student learning and achievement; participate in professional development and school-wide initiatives.
- Maintain privacy and confidentiality of student records and professional matters.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required;
Master’s degree preferred. - Current Ohio Department of Education (ODE) License as an Intervention Specialist required;
Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) status in teaching assignment. - Experience with ETRs and IEPs; ability to write IEPs; experience with personalized student advising and motivation skills is preferred.

- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills; effective organizational abilities and classroom management skills.
- Proficiency with technology and ability to use data to inform instruction.
- Must complete a BCi/FBI Background check and comply with applicable regulations.
This position is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment and may involve working with students with behavioral risks. Attendance at meetings outside of regular hours may be required. The role includes responsibilities that may involve handling stressful situations, maintaining compliance with laws and procedures, and ensuring effective communication with staff, students, and parents.

Supervision and ReportingOccasional, minimal guidance; follows established work methods. No direct reports.
