English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher (K-8) at Apex Academy (Part Time)
SUMMARY
This position is shared between Apex Academy and our neighboring school, Pinnacle Academy. The schedule is split evenly at 10 hours per week at each school. The English Language (EL) teacher provides English language development instruction to children who are acquiring English as an additional language. The EL Teacher works collaboratively with other school-based instructional personnel to meet the individual needs of each English Learner (EL)/Multilingual Learner (ML) child.
Required activities include planning and delivering lessons, collaborating with classroom teachers and specialists, administering formative and summative assessments to measure language progress, completing documentation required for compliance with state and federal guidelines, and attending regular Professional Development.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plans and delivers lessons to promote students’ English language development.
- Collaborates with classroom teachers and specialists to ensure achievement of EL/MLs across content areas through the Sheltered Instruction and the English Language Development program models.
- Administers formative and summative assessments to monitor language progress and ensure student achievement.
- Completes documentation required for compliance with state and federal guidelines.
- Completes daily logs of student services.
- Attends regular Professional Development offerings.
- Be available for afternoon and evening parent-teacher conferences and school events.
- Additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must hold a valid teacher license in the applicable grade level for the state in which you are applying.
- Candidates for English Language (EL) Teacher positions should preferably hold a Professional, Supplemental, or RE License type with a PK-12 TESOL endorsement. Minimally, candidates for this position must hold a license type listed above and obtain a PK-12 TESOL Endorsement within 2 years.
- Demonstrates knowledge of first and second language acquisition theory second language learning patterns, and best practices in English language development.
- Reflects an awareness and acceptance of cultural differences exhibited by the students and their families.
- Possesses those characteristics necessary for acting as an advocate for multilingual families within the school.
- Read, analyze, and interpret student academic data.
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate with classroom teachers, administration, and families.
