The School of Social Work in the College of Health at Cleveland State University (CSU) invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor position beginning August 17, 2026. This is a full‑time, nine‑month, on‑campus appointment with summer employment possible.

We are especially interested in candidates with expertise in social work practice with children and families, community organizing and advocacy, systems and policy change, and health‑related social work. The position includes primary teaching responsibilities in both web‑based and face‑to‑face courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with a standard teaching load of six courses per academic year. The successful candidate must also have an active research agenda and is expected to participate in standard university and community service activities.

Our School of Social Work has approximately 1 100 students enrolled in our CSWE‑accredited BSW and MSW programs and offers an energetic, collegial, and supportive academic environment.

• MSW degree from a CSWE‑accredited university
• Ph.D. in Social Work or a closely related field – terminal degree completed by July 1, 2026. Persons who are ABD will be hired at the rank of Instructor
• Minimum of two years post‑MSW practice experience
• Demonstrated ability to teach across multiple course topics and program levels (BSW and MSW)
• Eligibility for social work licensure

• Record of publications in scholarly journals
• Evidence of successful teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels
• Teaching experience in both face‑to‑face and web‑based courses
• Research interests in social work practice with children and families, community organizing and advocacy, systems and policy change, and health‑related social work
• Current possession of social work licensure
