YOUNG WOMEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION: EARLY LEARNING CENTERFounded in 2001, the Early Learning Center provides high‑quality early childhood education to families that have experienced homelessness and other traumatic occurrences through a two‑generational trauma‑informed approach, small classrooms, and coordination of supportive services. This innovative model assesses and identifies the social‑emotional needs of the children, works with families to create case plans, achieve goals, prevents re‑occurrence of homelessness, and empowers families to achieve and maintain the highest level of self‑sufficiency.
YourImpact as a Lead Teacher
As a Lead Teacher at ELC, you will play a crucial role in providing top‑notch care for children, ensuring compliance with ODJFS rules and regulations, and implementing Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP). Your creativity will shine as you craft engaging lesson plans that align with Ohio Early Learning Content Standards and cater to the unique needs of each child. Building strong relationships with parents, you will keep them abreast of their child's progress and milestones, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment.
WhatWe’re Looking For in a Lead Teacher
To excel as a preschool Lead Teacher, candidates should possess a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in a related field and be enrolled in a Bachelor’s program. Additionally, candidates should have at least 2 to 3 years of full‑time teaching experience with young children aged 3 to 5 years old. A thorough understanding of ODJFS rules and regulations is essential.
Knowledge and Skills Required for the Position- Preferred:
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Special Education. - Minimum
Required:
Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field. - Currently enrolled and engaged in a Bachelor’s program in an approved related field.
- Preferred: 3 years full‑time teaching experience with young children ages 3 to 5 years old.
- Minimum
Required:
2 years full‑time teaching experience with young children ages 3 to 5 years old. - Current First Aid/CPR, Communicable Disease, and Child Abuse certifications or attainment of such training within the first six months of employment.
- Successfully pass BCI and FBI background check and drug testing prior to employment.
- Medical statement signed by physician or certified nurse practitioner required on the first day of employment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to actively interact with children by being able to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, and reach above head.
