The Quality Engineer ensures compliance with aerospace standards (AS9100, FAA, NADCAP, etc.), drives supplier and internal quality improvements, and maintains strong customer relationships by meeting or exceeding quality performance requirements.

This role involves direct customer interaction, internal leadership, and project management in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Job Duties
  • Develop, execute, and maintain quality plans in alignment with project schedules and contract requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001:2015, FAA, EASA, and NADCAP requirements.
  • Participate in and support internal, supplier, and customer audits.
  • Review and approve inspection instructions for receiving, in-process, and final inspections.
  • Review and approve engineering/manufacturing instructions to ensure drawing and specification compliance.
  • Review purchase orders to confirm quality requirements for purchased parts.
  • Serve as a member of the Material Review Board (MRB).
  • Manage gage and fixture maintenance, including calibration and qualification processes.
  • Act as a key interface with aerospace OEM and Tier 1 customers on audits, surveys, complaints, and product performance metrics.
  • Participate in supplier selection, evaluation, and monitoring to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing to ensure quality requirements are properly flowed down to suppliers.
  • Lead structured Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA/8D, Fishbone, 5-Why) initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement through data analysis, trend identification, and process capability studies.
  • Assist with the implementation and evaluation of Statistical Process Control (SPC) programs.
  • Provide technical guidance and training on quality control and assurance principles.
  • Lead and support First Article Inspections (FAI/FAIR/AS9102).
  • Review and analyze manufacturing and inspection data to ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure quality is maintained across the product lifecycle.
  • Approve inspection fixtures, design reviews, and verification processes.
  • Prepare and maintain customer-required quality forms (e.g., 8130-3, case record forms, production lot approval packages).
  • Support internal teams with technical documentation, blueprints, and mil-spec compliance.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • 3–5 years of quality assurance or quality engineering experience, preferably in aerospace or defense.
  • Strong knowledge of aerospace quality systems, regulations, and standards (AS9100, ISO 9001, FAA, NADCAP).
  • Demonstrated experience with FAIR/AS9102, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and RCCA methodologies.
  • Experience supporting or leading aerospace customer audits and compliance reviews.
  • Proficiency in interpreting complex technical documents, blueprints, drawings, and mil-specs.
  • Solid understanding of gage systems, calibration, SPC, and quality management auditing methods.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office; ERP system experience (e.g., Macola) preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across cross-functional teams and with customers.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.
  • Self-starter with a proactive, accountable mindset.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive decisions.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Experience with supply chain quality management.
  • Must be a US citizen.
