Summary
Leads the General Accounting, Grants Accounting and Financial Reporting teams to achieve The Metro Health System’s (MHS) financial, operational, and strategic goals. Ensures that financial reporting is completed in an accurate and timely manner, and in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB), and Financial Accounting Standards Board’s (FASB) standards. Ensures that financial statements and financial reporting are of high quality through attention to detail, the use of analytical tools, and technical guidance.
Makes recommendations to senior leadership for policy enhancements to ensure optimal controls and efficiencies. Provides leadership and mentoring to management and staff. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The Metro Health System.
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or other related field, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in addition to the experience stated below.
- 6 years of progressively responsible experience in financial accounting.
- 4 years of progressively responsible management experience.
- 2 years of experience in public accounting and/or financial reporting.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB), and Financial Accounting Standards Board’s (FASB) standards.
- Demonstrates initiative and can provide evidence of continuing professional self-development.
- Strong analytical capabilities.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills.
- Ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and produce quality results on time with strong attention to detail.
- A bility to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Preferred:
- Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license through the Accountancy Board of Ohio.
- Experience in healthcare finance.
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day.
- May need to sit or stand for extended periods.
- See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
- Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
- Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required.
- Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications.
- Ability to use a computer.
