Medical Physicist – Summa Health
Under direction of the Director of Medical Physics and the Medical Director of Radiation Oncology, the Medical Physicist provides clinical physics services and technical support to the radiation oncology team. This includes all aspects of external beam therapy, brachytherapy, special procedures, staff education, and compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
Location & EmploymentAkron City Campus – Full‑time, 40 hours per week.
Compensation$88.19/hr – $132.29/hr (base salary exclusive of bonuses or differentials). Salary is determined by experience and location, with internal equity considerations.
ResponsibilitiesProvide clinical physics services and technical support for external beam therapy, brachytherapy, and special procedures; educate staff; ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements; maintain treatment planning systems and calculation accuracy; offer physics support on evenings or weekends; and travel between the main campus and off sites as necessary.
Qualifications- Master’s Degree in Medical Physics (PhD preferred).
- Current Board Certification by the American Board of Radiology or equivalent.
- Certified Radiation Expert (CRE) in the State of Ohio (preferred).
- Five (5) years of experience in medical physics, preferably in a large program with diverse treatment modalities.
- Clinical and research experience during education preferred.
- Knowledge of treatment machines and planning computer systems.
- Strong calculation and word‑processing skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff and patients.
- Sedentary; occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds; negligible force frequently.
