Job Description:

SUMMARY

The Program Director, Occupational Therapy, is a full-time, year-round professional staff position that oversees and manages the organization,administration, periodic review, planning, development, and generaleffectiveness of the Occupational Therapy Program. The Program Director oversees and is responsible forthe program’s compliance with the accreditation standards set forth by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education. Other tasks assigned to the Program Director not to exceed 50% of total effort.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • The program director is responsible for the management and administration ofthe program, including planning, evaluation, budgeting, hiringrecommendations, maintenance of accreditation, and commitment tostrategies for professional development
  • Responsible for accreditation activities relating to the Occupational Therapy program
  • Provides leadership by assuring accreditation standards are met
  • Markets the Occupational Therapy program and recruits students
  • Prepares and administers budget
  • Supervises and assesses the performance of assigned staff
  • Serves as a liaison between the college and health carefacilities
  • Oversees didactic and clinical instructional process including student evaluations and schedules
  • Counsels and advises students
  • Coordinates development of curriculum and revisions
  • Prepares course schedules and recommends instructional assignments
  • Performs didactic instruction and evaluation of program courses
  • Coordinates Advisory Committee and all program admissionactivities
  • Provides input for outcomes assessment and program objectives
  • Develops and maintains effective communication with prospective applicants, students, graduates, faculty, clinical instructors and community
  • Conducts faculty, clinical instructor, and staff meetings
  • Maintains required BCI and up to date immunizations
  • Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited institution, not limited to adegree in Occupational Therapy
  • Registered as a certified Occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapy Assistant
  • Minimum of five years of demonstrated full-time experience in the Occupational Therapy field
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a full-time academicappointment with teaching responsibilities at the postsecondary level
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with working with Occupational Therapy Assistants
  • Demonstrated experience supervising, planning, assigning, scheduling,and ensuring the quality of the work of others
  • Demonstrated experience effectively making decisions that havemajor implications on the management and operations within a department
  • Demonstrated experience forecasting, planning, maintaining, preparing, and monitoring abusiness area’s budget
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in a role requiring dynamic andabstract problem-solving methods in adaptive situations
  • Must successfully complete a Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCI) Background Check to include fingerprinting, social security number trace, county record search, state search, and a check of Federal Bureau of Investigation records

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of Occupational Therapy theories, concepts,and practices with the ability to use in complex,
  • difficult and/orunprecedented situations as it pertains to the departmental focus
  • Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, and MS Project
  • Abilityto independently set goals and determine best course of action to achievedesired results
  • Demonstrated advanced project management skills
  • Possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
