Shift: Day/Eve rotation, rotating weekends and holidays
SummaryCoordinating the medical control program for pre-hospital providers such as Cleveland Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for the Emergency Care Patient Care Unit. Participates in quality assurance, educational, public relations, and research activities for the Emergency Department and Life Flight Program. Provides summary statistics and reports on medical control calls, issues, and performance improvement initiatives. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The Metro Health System (MHS).
Qualifications- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, OR equivalent.
- ACLS AND PALS Instructor certification, OR obtain both within 1 year of hire.
- Experience and aptitude in pre-hospital educational activities.
- Experience in quality assurance/performance improvement or hospital/pre-hospital care instruction.
- Computer proficiency and basic spreadsheet programs.
- Reliable transportation; willing to travel within MHS and EMS sites.
- Paramedic: HS Diploma or equivalent;
Graduate of accredited paramedic program;
Current EMT-P certification for Ohio; 5 years pre-hospital/ED experience;
Paramedic instructor certification within 6 months of hire. - RN:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing from accredited institution;
Current RN license for Ohio; 5 years ED/trauma/pre-hospital experience;
State of Ohio EMS Continuing Education Instructor certification within 6 months. - Preferred:
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in healthcare field. - Experience coordinating EMS activities.
- 1 year of management or leadership experience in pre-hospital emergency care or ED.
- RN holds an EMT or Paramedic certification.
- May sit, stand, stoop, bend, ambulate intermittently during the day.
- May need to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Visual range normal with or without correction.
- Auditory range normal with or without correction.
- Ability to lift 250-300 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to push/pull up to 500 pounds with assistance.
- Requires exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.
- Requires exposure to chemicals.
