Position Summary: Under the administrative/clinical supervision of the Clinical Director of UMTYS, the Community Independence Programs (CIP) Therapist, as a member of a treatment team, provides diagnostic assessment, behavioral health therapy, and occasional therapeutic behavioral services (TBS)/community psychiatric supportive services (CPST) to clients and their natural supports. The therapist transitions clients in community settings and provides supervision, assistance to daily living, case coordination, counseling, guidance and transportation.
They are expected to meet the program’s productivity target for billable service each week. Services take place in the home, office, and community. Work hours are flexible; some evenings may apply.
Responsibilities Include:
- Provide assessments, counseling/psychotherapy, and community support program services for clients, their natural supports, and significant others as needed, including community organizations, schools, other health and social service professionals, the justice system, and other agencies involved with the client.
- Accept caseload assignments from UMTYS leadership and jointly develop tasks and interventions that implement treatment goals.
- Provide Mental Health Assessment, Behavioral Health Therapy, therapeutic behavioral services (TBS), and Community Psychiatric Supportive Services (CPST) including evaluations and assessments, participation in the development of the client’s Individual Treatment Plan (ITP), crisis support, education and consultation for families, individual interventions, symptom monitoring and self‑management, social support skill building, coordination of evaluations and services identified on the ITP, follow‑up to determine adequacy of services, resource access, and assistance with apartment identification, lease securing and moving.
- Facilitate a psychotherapy group.
- Assess each client to determine proficiency in life skills and ability to function in a group.
- Offer several modalities of teaching necessary life skills including daily living experiences, group and individual instruction.
- Supervise a safe, growth‑producing environment for clients to address educational and emotional needs.
- Provide adequate and appropriate supervision for all clients; monitor and observe client’s home residence at least twice a month.
- Engage primary natural supports and other clinicians as clinically indicated in the treatment planning process.
- Work a flexible week with evening and weekend on‑call coverage on a rotating basis; minimum 50% of week devoted to productivity.
- Maintain clinical records through timely documentation as required by licensing and accreditation regulations.
Other Duties:
- Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and ongoing training.
- Maintain all required trainings, certifications and licensure current.
- Respect client privacy and confidentiality in accordance with agency guidelines.
- Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to agency policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
- Education:
Minimum Master’s Degree in Social Work, Clinical Counseling, or related field. - Licensure:
Valid Ohio LSW, LPC, or MFT required. - Competencies/
