Ohio Guidestone is seeking Peer Recovery Supporters. Peer Recovery Supporters provide sobriety support services and inspire hope of recovery from addiction or co-occurring disorders. Educate clients on the addiction model and paths to recovery and help to expand clients’ sober support network, and connect clients to needed community resources in support of their recovery. #Your Path Starts Here
Job Summary:
The Peer Recovery Supporter provides community-based services for a client with a mental illness or substance use disorder, and assists with activities that promote recovery, self-determination, self-advocacy, well-being, and independence. The Peer Recovery Supporter provides services that are individualized, recovery-focused, and based on a relationship that supports the client’s ability to promote their own recovery. The Peer Recovery Supporter promotes self-directed recovery by assisting a client and promoting trauma informed care and diversity competence, encouraging self-direction, and advocating for informed choice.
Duties/Responsibilities:- Provides sobriety support services and inspire hope of recovery from addiction or co-occurring disorders.
- Upon assignment, meets with client each week, and based upon need of client; step down as appropriate with supervisor input.
- Communicates frequently with client and coordinates or assists in crisis interventions and stabilization, as needed.
- Educates the client on the addiction model and paths to recovery.
- Connects the client to needed community resources in support of their recovery and help client expand their sober support network.
- Assists clients in the development of empowerment skills through self-advocacy and activities that reduce discrimination and inspire hope.
- Supports the client in the development of life skills to aid them in achieving personal independence.
- Addresses barriers to recovery and provide support to maintain recovery and reduce relapse.
- Supports the client in developing and working toward achievement of personal recovery goals.
- Teaches skills to effectively navigate the health care delivery system and promote coordination and linkage among similar providers.
- Attends meetings, child visitation, and court hearings with client, as needed.
- Explores recovery needs and develops a Recovery Support Plan with each client.
- Performs related administrative responsibilities; maintains client information, reports, records, and other documents; responds timely to emails and phone calls; attends and participates in various trainings and meetings; communicates with other agencies, departments, and vendors regarding required paperwork, contract compliance and consults with other county agencies and/or supportive services as necessary.

- Accurately and promptly documents and maintains the confidentiality of client and family interactions including, legal, financial, and clinical documentation within agency guidelines.
