Senior Database Administrator; Postgres

We’re recruiting on behalf of a growing technology-focused organization in the Greater Cleveland, Ohio area seeking a Senior Database Administrator who can take ownership of database performance, reliability, and uptime. Candidates must have strong hands‑on Postgres experience and be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship. Relocation support may be considered for the right person. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across Postgres, SQL Server, and open‑source database platforms while partnering closely with development and infrastructure teams.

• Manage, tune, and support Postgres, SQL Server, and other open‑source relational databases
• Partner with developers to improve data structures, optimize queries, and enhance scalability
• Monitor database health and resolve performance or availability issues
• Oversee backup strategies, conduct routine restore tests, and maintain disaster‑recovery readiness
• Support upgrades, patching cycles, and environment planning
• Maintain user access controls and security protocols
• Contribute to broader IT improvement initiatives and evaluate emerging database technologies

• Hands‑on experience managing relational databases with strong Postgres expertise
• Background working in Linux/Unix and Microsoft server environments
• Proven ability to troubleshoot performance issues, plan capacity, and manage monitoring tools
• Strong communication skills with a collaborative, problem‑solving mindset
• Technical training or degree helpful, though practical experience carries more weight
• Willingness to participate in on‑call rotation for critical support needs
• Ability to move or set up technical equipment when necessary (up to ~50 lbs.)

• Experience supporting Oracle applications
• Familiarity with SharePoint, Visio, or similar tools
• Prior work improving processes or contributing to IT modernization efforts
