Temporary Senior Associate, Open Shift Engineer
Join KPMG US in a 12‑month Technical Operations assignment as a Senior Open Shift Engineer within our Digital Nexus technology organization. In this role you will provide expert support, guide applications, and help maintain the Open Shift platform for our clients.
Responsibilities- Provide expert‑level technical support to application teams using the Open Shift platform; troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to Open Shift virtualization platform or other virtualization platforms
- Work closely with application teams to understand their requirements and provide guidance and recommendations to optimize their Open Shift virtualization deployment
- Maintain deep technical and business knowledge of industry directions and trends
- Collaborate with other teams such as operations and middleware to ensure timely resolution of issues; participate in on‑call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical issues
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including knowledge base articles and best practices; contribute to the development of automation tools and scripts to improve support processes
- Mentor and train other support engineers to improve their technical skills and knowledge of Open Shift
- Act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold KPMG's respectful and courteous work environment
- Minimum three years of recent experience managing medium‑to‑large‑scale container platforms (including rollout, automation, and scaling) and providing technical support for enterprise applications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred
- Practical experience with Open Shift (installation, configuration, troubleshooting) and a solid understanding of containerization and Kubernetes; demonstrated ability to engineer CI/CD processes in an enterprise environment, preferably with tools like Git Hub Actions or Jenkins
- Scripting experience using languages such as Shell, Bash, Python, or Power Shell, coupled with a firm knowledge of the SDLC lifecycle; experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMWare, KVM) is a plus, and coding experience with software development languages is preferred
- Strong verbal/ written communication, problem‑solving, and analytical skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with clients, IT management, and team members
- Detail‑oriented and thorough, with excellent technical writing skills, effective time management, and the ability to mentor less experienced team members
