Primary Purpose

The Data Engineer will work closely with the Data Architect and the rest of the Business Systems team to implement, optimize, and expand the organization’s data infrastructure. This role will focus on designing, migrating, and maintaining robust data pipelines, especially driving the adoption and integration of the Databricks platform for modern analytics, reporting, and warehousing. The Data Engineer will collaborate with business stakeholders, developers, and analysts to deliver solutions that ensure high data quality, availability, and security.

Responsibilities

& Duties Data Engineering Support
  • Support the Data Architect to implement data models, data pipelines, and integration solutions as part of the evolving data architecture.
  • Migrate, build, and optimize ETL/ELT processes leveraging API integrations, file-based data feeds, ODBC connections etc. and targeting SQL Server / Databricks using Python/SQL and related technologies.
  • Collaborate with the data and software teams to support data needs for business applications, dashboards (Tableau / Power

    BI), and analytics/reporting requirements.
  • Develop and maintain code and infrastructure that align with organizational standards for data integrity, security, and governance.
  • Assist with documentation, data dictionaries, and the ongoing support and monitoring of data pipelines and warehouse processes.
  • Proactively identify and resolve performance issues, troubleshoot data anomalies, and participate in root-cause analysis for data-related incidents.
  • Participate in agile sprint cycles, team standups, and knowledge sharing sessions across technical teams.
Technology Advancement & Optimization
  • Remain current with the latest trends, technologies, and advancements in data engineering.
  • Assist in pilot projects to assess the feasibility and benefits of new technologies.
  • Support Data Architect and other data professionals on monitoring system performance metrics and proactively identifying areas for optimization.
Technical Proficiency & Knowledge Sharing
  • Communicate data engineering concepts and solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Provide knowledge sharing within the organization to promote a data-driven culture.
  • Create and help maintain comprehensive documentation for all aspects of data engineering.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a similar technical field required (relevant experience may substitute).
  • 1‑3 years of experience in data engineering, ETL development, or a closely related role.
  • Proven experience building, optimizing, and maintaining data pipelines, with recent hands‑on work in Databricks or comparable big data platforms strongly preferred.
  • Proficient in Python for data processing and automation.
  • Experience with SQL, including writing and optimizing queries for large datasets.
  • Familiarity with RDBMS (e.g. SQL Server), data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau / Power

    BI), and ETL tools; experience migrating to Databricks or other cloud is a plus; experience working with AI assistant coding tools a plus.
  • Understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and principles of data quality and governance.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Exposure to agile/SCRUM practices and version control (Git) in collaborative team environments.
  • Project management experience for assigned data and integration efforts, coordinating tasks, tracking progress, documenting requirements, identifying and escalating risks, and ensuring timely and successful completion of project deliverables as needed.
