• Perform DB2 upgrades, migrate from older version to newer version DB2, reviewing the enhancements and activating the function level, make online and offline system parameter (DSNZPARMs) changes.
• Should have good knowledge on SMP/E RSU maintenance process (Receive/Apply/Accept/Restore), applying maintenance through SMP/E
• Installation and management of DB2 and associated third party products.
• Configure and manage DB2 in a parallel sysplex environment.
• Develop innovation, strategies, processes and best practices in software management.
• Coordinating with application team for design related issues, object changes.
• Experience with DR (Disaster Recovery), adhere to process and security compliance
• Experience in Online utility:
  Running Reorgs, unload, load and Runstats, Backup and Recovery of Table spaces (copy & recover), Repair, Load/Unload utilities and troubleshooting restricted object to RW.
• Ensure integrity, availability and performance of DB2 database systems by providing technical support and Maintenance.
• Ability to craft and alter of DB2 object according to custom's requirement (Ex: Database, Table space, Table, Index, etc.)
• Generate reports for performance analysis when required, run explain for the queries identified and review the results, perform SQL tuning if required.
• In-depth knowledge on monitoring the application threads, tuning the SQL queries, making modifications to the query for better performance.
• Installing third party tools in DB2. Applying maintenance and providing support for those tools.
• Troubleshoot and solving production database issue.
• Good hands-on experience with DB2 command interface (familiar with other command), Stop/Start Databases, display command, cancel thread and term utility
• Proficient in Stand-alone utilities: DSNJU
  003 and DSNJU
  004, DSNJ
  003 to change DB2 BSDS, DSNJU
  004 to print BSDS. Trained with DSN1
  
  COPY.
• Ability to provide Grants to users for appropriate groups/authorities, familiar with DB2 privileges.
• Working knowledge of SQL, knows to use query to check catalog table and find necessary details for system usage
• Experience with replication from Mainframe to other RDBMS is a plus.
• Experience on tools like Log analyzer, BMC Apptune, Catalog/Change manager, BMC utilities, CA sysview for DB2, QMF , Omegamon is an advantage.
