Summary
Senior level position capable of working independently under general direction. Holds technical responsibility for system generation, hardware and software management, and internal training in the operation and use of hardware and software systems. Evaluates, recommends, designs and/or modifies hardware and software utilized for database access. Works along with other analysts, engineers and systems administrators to maintain an effective database management system.
Assists in developing standards for all relational databases. Provides technical assistance to application programmers, reviews application coding for efficiency or to prevent problems, and may be called upon to perform application program coding as needed. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The Metro Health System.
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, technical institute degree/certificate, or equivalent Database Administration experience.
- Minimum of five years of experience as a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator.
- Familiarity with multiple operating systems including Windows, Linux, AIX.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Good project management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, good negotiation skills.
- Detail oriented.
- Self‑starter with positive initiative.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet established deadlines.
- Ability to work well with others, as well as independently.
- Exercises sound judgment.
- Ability to train, delegate and review the work of lower level employees.
- Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments for a work group.
- Ability to maintain a professional composure with customers in difficult situations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality about patient information and employee records.
- Access to reliable transportation with the ability to work “on‑call” and respond to system support issues.
- Experience with Oracle administration.
- Experience with Cache Databases and Epic.
- May need to move around intermittently during the day, including sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and ambulating.
- May need to remain still for extended periods, including sitting and standing.
- Ability to communicate in face‑to‑face, phone, email, and other communications.
- Ability to read job related documents.
- Ability to use computer.
