- Attend court hearings on behalf of clients and argue motions
- Maintain knowledge of local, state, and federal statutes and applicable laws
- Get appropriate documents prepared, such as motions, pleadings, notices, and discovery requests and responses
- Anticipate, prepare for, and attend trials, mediation, and arbitration on behalf of clients
- Provide guidance and advice to associate attorneys and paralegals to resolve or prevent conflicts
- Represent clients in all stages of criminal proceedings, including arraignments, pre-trial hearings, negotiations, motions, and trial
- Develop comprehensive defense strategies tailored to each client’s unique case
- Draft and review legal documents such as motions to suppress, briefs, plea agreements, discovery requests, and trial memoranda
- Conduct legal research to support case preparation and courtroom strategy
- Argue motions and conduct direct and cross-examinations during trial
- Oversee case files to ensure accurate, timely documentation and compliance with procedures
- Mentor and support associate attorneys and paralegals working on criminal defense matters
- Maintain thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal criminal law and procedural rules
- Must be able to handle heavy caseload with little supervision
- Prior experience representing clients in trials, mediation, and arbitration
- Exceptional time management and interpersonal skills are desired, as are exceptional writing and verbal communication skills
- Admitted to local and state bar associations
- 5 years of required experience as a senior associate in the legal field
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- Active member in good standing with the relevant state bar
- Minimum 5 years of experience in criminal defense litigation, including jury trial experience
- Proven ability to manage a heavy criminal caseload with minimal supervision
- Strong courtroom presence and persuasive advocacy skills
- Excellent legal research, writing, negotiation, and interpersonal communication abilities
- Commitment to ethical representation and protecting clients’ constitutional rights
- Bilingual a plus (especially Spanish)
Compensation: $160,000 - $190,000 DOE + bonus potential
