The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for two full-time Registered Nurse - Patient Safety Nurses. The Patient Safety Nurses will serve within the Quality and Safety Service, overseeing patient safety programs, conducting risk assessments, and fostering a culture of continuous safety improvement.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Registered Nurse-Patient Safety Nurse duties include but are not limited to:
Coordinates and implements patient safety policies and activities established by the National Center for Patient Safety (NCPS). Serves as the facility's primary resource for building, sustaining, and implementing patient safety systems across all VHA care settings. Supports the development, maintenance, and operation of the facility-level patient safety program and related processes.
Applies the science of patient safety through systematic, enterprise-wide methodologies and foundational safety practices. Demonstrates effective leadership, detailed planning, professional communication, and innovative approaches to enhancing patient safety and healthcare program development. Organizes priorities, meets deadlines, delivers in-person, telephonic, and electronic presentations, and works independently as needed.
Collaborates with staff at all levels, including senior leadership and patient safety analysis teams, to advance safety initiatives. Utilizes patient safety survey data and analysis to guide and promote a culture of safety. Partners with leaders and interdisciplinary teams to sustain safety practices, including modeling High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles and facilitating patient safety forums.
Trains and coordinates patient safety activities for personnel such as infection control professionals, risk managers, and quality managers.
