Sanitation Supervisor – 4th Shift (4 DAY WORK WEEK)
Join to apply for the Sanitation Supervisor – 4th Shift (4 DAY WORK WEEK) role at Gorton's. The Sanitation Supervisor leads the 4th shift team in maintaining key sanitation, food safety, quality, and regulatory programs in support of a 24‑hour dry mix operation. This position supervises all sanitation programs for the facility and works four, ten‑hour days, Thursday through Sunday, 6:00 am – 4:30 pm.
The Sanitation Supervisor also provides backup support to the production team and meets or exceeds operational requirements provided by the Production Manager. The position reports to the FSQA Manager and is located at our Specialty Products division in Brook Park, Ohio. You’ll Do
- Design, implement, and verify facility sanitation and 5S programs meet internal and external expectations. Support plant sanitation by performing inspections and managing swab and sample programs to ensure effective environmental monitoring.
- Ensure compliance with Food Safety Pre‑requisite Programs, including GMP, SOP, SSOP, and Chemical Procedures through routine auditing.
- Cultivate employee trust, entrepreneurial spirit, and goal orientation. Motivate, support, and coach employees to become self‑directed.
- Create and lead teams of employees to improve sanitation and minimize equipment failures, reduce set‑up time, and increase throughput and yields.
- Train FSQA team, general helper operators, and other plant personnel as needed.
- Provide backup supervisor coverage during planned vacations and emergency absences.
- Administer the collective bargaining agreement and resolve labor grievances professionally.
- Ensure each employee receives required training, identify additional training needs, and support continuous learning.
- 3+ years of sanitation experience in a food production environment.
- Strong knowledge of food manufacturing sanitation programs, particularly dry sanitation.
- PCQI certification.
- Well‑developed communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build professional relationships while facilitating a collaborative environment.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and communication with well‑developed Microsoft Office expertise.
- Ability to leverage information to develop insightful business judgment to ensure food safety and compliance.
- Ability to deal effectively with all levels in a diverse environment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑resolution skills.
