Maintenance Technician, St. Claire (Cleveland), OH
Arclin is seeking talent for a Maintenance Technician at our Cleveland (St. Claire), OH location. Reporting into the Maintenance Manager
, this role is responsible for supporting plant operations by maintaining and repairing machinery, equipment, and infrastructure used in rubber processing and production. This role plays a key part in ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance of extruders, mixers, presses, and other rubber manufacturing equipment. The ideal candidate brings strong troubleshooting skills, mechanical and electrical knowledge, and a proactive attitude toward preventive maintenance and safety.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance on rubber manufacturing equipment, including extruders, mills, mixers, calenders, and curing presses.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues in production equipment.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns and maintenance requests to minimize production delays.
- Assist with equipment changeovers, installations, and upgrades.
- Monitor and maintain utilities supporting rubber processes (air, water, steam, etc.).
- Maintain detailed maintenance logs and records using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Follow plant safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and lockout/tagout (LOTO).
- Support root cause analysis for recurring maintenance issues.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas, tools, and parts inventory.
- Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to ensure smooth operations and compliance with process specifications.
- Adhere to quality and safety standards specific to the rubber manufacturing environment (e.g., temperature and pressure control, cleanliness, material handling).
- High school diploma or GED required; technical school certification or associate degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical, or Mechanical Technology preferred.
- 2–5 years of maintenance experience in a rubber or similar manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with rubber processing equipment (extruders, batch mixers, Banbury mixers, etc.) strongly preferred.
- Solid mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, sensors, and control systems is a plus.
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools, welding, and fabrication is a bonus.
- Basic computer skills and experience with CMMS software preferred.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or in a team setting.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in hot, noisy, and occasionally confined environments.
Fast-paced rubber manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, and industrial chemicals. Requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a safety-first mindset.
