CNC Machine Operator at Progress Rail, A Caterpillar Company

Competitive starting pay range $20-$22.50/hr, eligible $1.00 increase at 1 year, quarterly production bonus $200-$500, and full benefits from day one! 1st shift 4:30 am‑1 pm or 5:00 am‑1 pm. 2nd shift 4 pm‑12:30 am ($1.50 shift differential after completing training on 1st shift 6‑8 weeks). Overtime available. Progress Rail Machine Operators work with heavy machinery producing railroad track components, maintaining equipment to ensure safe and effective operation.

Duties include preparing machinery for daily use, inspecting machinery for safety issues, producing quality full track panels, turnouts and crossings, and building other rail components to customer specifications.

• Read/interpret drawings/part specifications and verify/adjust speeds and feeds for optimum machining.
• Make necessary offset changes to be within allowable tolerances.
• Change inserts.
• Verify conformance of part to specifications using measuring instruments such as scales, calipers, micrometers and fixed gauges; fill out inspection reports as required.
• Clean machined parts to ensure readiness for assembly.
• Report all issues in regard to tooling and setup to the supervisor.
• Keep a clean, organized and safe workplace.
• Be punctual and act in accordance with company policies and procedures.

• HS diploma or equivalent.
• CNC multi‑axis training and experience preferred.

Minimum 3 to 12 months CNC multi‑axis machine operator experience preferred.

• Ability to multitask and work with minimal supervision.
• Must be able to read and write legibly and complete production reports with accuracy.
• Must be able to read and use tape measure.
• Strong attention to detail with ability to inspect rail using measuring devices.
• Must be quality oriented and a team player.
• Must have complete understanding of safe work practices.
