OverviewThe Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Metro Health System is seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife to join our new, full-scope, comprehensive program. The midwifery team is a part of a supportive and highly skilled team of physicians and APPs including our division of 20 generalist OB‑GYN physicians, along with our team of 11 subspecialists, 20 residents, 10 fellows and 8 Advanced Practice Providers.
The midwifery team, while functioning independently with respect to the inpatient and outpatient care of patients (office management, admissions, deliveries, prescribing, discharge) works collaboratively with the faculty of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Our midwives are a highly valued and supported division within the OB‑GYN department.
Participation in diverse activities such as clinical education and research is the expectation. Reporting structure will be directly to the OB/GYN Department Chair.
Responsibilities & Expectations- Provide independent inpatient and outpatient midwifery care, including office management, admissions, deliveries, prescribing, and discharge.
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, residents, fellows, and subspecialists within the OB‑GYN department.
- Participate in clinical education and research activities.
- Graduate degree in midwifery.
- Current certification by the American Midwifery Certification Board.
- Capable of offering full-scope midwifery care.
- Excellent interpersonal and clinical skills.
- Fluency in Spanish desirable.
- Interest in continuous quality improvement and research considered an asset.
