Postdoctoral Research Position – Molecular Biophysics

Metro Health Medical Center, Case Western Reserve University
Cleveland, Ohio

The Center for Cancer Research at Metro Health Medical Center, Case Western Reserve University, is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher in Molecular Biophysics
. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team to develop and apply advanced time-resolved fluorescence methods for studying protein-protein interactions and protein structure-function relationships in live cells.

This project will focus on elucidating the structure-function mechanisms of receptor tyrosine kinases and their role in cancer development, with collaboration across cell biology, biochemistry, and cancer biology disciplines.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biophysics or a closely related field.
  • Hands-on experience in constructing custom fluorescence microscopy systems (e.g., FRET, FLIM, FCS, and anisotropy).
  • Solid understanding of time-resolved fluorescence techniques
    .
  • Experience with live cell culture and molecular biology is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with vendors to develop novel time-resolved fluorescence techniques
    , such as time-resolved fluorescence anisotropy and multi-color FCS
    .
  • Operate in-house time-resolved fluorescence microscopes to conduct live-cell imaging experiments.
  • Perform sample preparation using basic cell biology techniques (training provided).
  • Conduct biochemical analyses such as immunoblotting (training provided).
  • Design and optimize protocols for new biophysical assays to address complex cancer biology questions.–
  • Writing and submitting NIH training grants
    , including F32, K99/R00, or K22 mechanisms.
