Metro Health Medical Center, Case Western Reserve University
Cleveland, Ohio
The Center for Cancer Research at Metro Health Medical Center, Case Western Reserve University, is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher in Molecular Biophysics
. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team to develop and apply advanced time-resolved fluorescence methods for studying protein-protein interactions and protein structure-function relationships in live cells.
This project will focus on elucidating the structure-function mechanisms of receptor tyrosine kinases and their role in cancer development, with collaboration across cell biology, biochemistry, and cancer biology disciplines.
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Molecular Biophysics or a closely related field.
- Hands-on experience in constructing custom fluorescence microscopy systems (e.g., FRET, FLIM, FCS, and anisotropy).
- Solid understanding of time-resolved fluorescence techniques
. - Experience with live cell culture and molecular biology is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with vendors to develop novel time-resolved fluorescence techniques
, such as time-resolved fluorescence anisotropy and multi-color FCS
. - Operate in-house time-resolved fluorescence microscopes to conduct live-cell imaging experiments.
- Perform sample preparation using basic cell biology techniques (training provided).
- Conduct biochemical analyses such as immunoblotting (training provided).
- Design and optimize protocols for new biophysical assays to address complex cancer biology questions.–
- Writing and submitting NIH training grants
, including F32, K99/R00, or K22 mechanisms.
