Job Summary

The Sales Account Specialist is involved in a variety of sales activities aimed to maintain strong relationships with existing customers. In this position, you will play a critical part in providing valuable support to our customers by troubleshooting customer issues, providing data and guidance to the sales team, managing sales tracking tools and analyzing sales trends.
While also developing your sales skills by identifying and pursuing opportunities to upsell or cross‑sell products and services to existing customers. The Sales Account Specialist contributes significantly to effective sales operations by assisting the sales team and maintaining positive customer relationships.
- Contribute to customer retention by strengthening relationships through account management and maintenance.
- Serve customers by responding to requests, resolving complaints, and maintaining quality service.
- Develop and enhance business partnerships by fully engaging and building trust with customers with a focus on long‑term relationships, business retention, and growth.
- Manage regular cadence of customer “soft touches” to keep customers engaged with Patterson Dental.
- Monitor account performance indicators to ensure buying levels maintain or grow.
- Support Account Executive in preparing for customer business reviews by pulling accurate data, preparing customer‑specific reports, and producing customer practice analysis materials when requested.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to upsell or cross‑sell products and services.
- Partner with Account Executive on analyzing pricing data from industry standards, previous sales trends, and competitors.
- Assist in identifying effective marketing strategies related to pricing.
- Partner with sales team to escalate sales leads gained through customer interactions to Account Executives and Business Development representatives.
- Support Account Executives with a variety of administrative duties including master data updates, free goods administration, returns processing, new account setups, change of ownerships, order entry, etc.
- Support educational events and webinars and drive attendance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in sales, business, economics, finance or related major or equivalent experience.
- Fundamental understanding of sales principles and customer service practices.
- Analytical and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Possesses basic business acumen.
- Ability to operate with a strong sense of urgency and deliver results.
- Self‑motivated, persistent, and goal‑oriented attitude and can work effectively as an individual or as part of a team.
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite including in‑depth knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel and the ability to pick up new systems and software easily.
- Associate degree in sales, business, economics, finance or related major.
- At least 1 year of proven work experience as a sales support professional.
- Certified Professional Sales Person (CPSP) Certification.
- Customer Care Professional Certification a plus.
- Dental industry experience.
- Skillful negotiation and presentation abilities.
- Ability to sit or stand while operating office equipment, such as a computer or telephone for 6‑8 hours per day.
- Ability to work in an office environment either onsite or remotely.
- Operate a computer or other office device up to 8 hours per day.
- Position involves frequent communication with customers, inside staff, etc., and requires ability to understand and effectively exchange accurate information.
This position is in an office environment in which team members occupy desks in assigned areas or at meeting/collaboration spaces within the building. The building’s primary work areas consist of desks, chairs, computers and other office equipment and devices for professional services.
Travel and On‑CallThis position may require some travel in the local area.
Compensation$25.10 – $30.72 per hour. The final offer amount would be based on various factors such as candidate location (geographical labor market), experience, and skills.
