Position Summary

The Monitor in a low demand shelter oversees the shelter's overall functioning, ensuring a peaceful, safe, and supportive environment. The role involves working with homeless single adults, providing orientation, assisting with immediate needs, de-escalating conflicts, and maintaining a welcoming presence.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Conducting rounds, security checks, and searches as needed, reporting abnormal findings promptly.
• Handling front desk duties such as enrolling residents, scanning in residents, enforcing bans, and managing security measures like metal detectors and contraband searches.
• Monitoring security cameras to ensure policy compliance.
• Interacting professionally with clients, using respectful communication.
• De-escalating volatile situations using intervention strategies.
• Monitoring client and visitor movement within the facility.
• Enforcing rules and assisting with residents' daily needs, including making incident reports.
• Maintaining detailed records of shift events.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent, some experience working with homeless, chemically dependent, or mentally disabled individuals, and possesses effective communication and crisis intervention skills.
