YOUNG WOMEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION: EARLY LEARNING CENTER

Some are surprised to learn we don't offer swim lessons and other recreational sports related activities, yet, from its inception, the YWCA of Greater Cleveland has been dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. Founded in 2001, the Early Learning Center provides high-quality early childhood education to families that have experienced homelessness and other traumatic occurrences through a two generational trauma-informed approach, small classrooms, and coordination of supportive services.

This innovative model assesses and identifies the social-emotional needs of the children, works with families to create case plans, achieve goals, prevents re-occurrence of homelessness, and empowers families to achieve and maintain the highest level of self-sufficiency.

Your Impact AS a pre-school bus driver

Under the general supervision of the Early Learning Center Director, the Bus Driver plays a crucial role in safeguarding the health, safety, and welfare of children, staff, and volunteers during transportation to and from the center and on field trips. This position requires a commitment to maintaining a clean, well-functioning bus at all times while determining and following safe and efficient routes.

The Bus Driver ensures all children are secured in age-appropriate safety restraints and assists in maintaining appropriate child-to-staff ratios on the bus. Additionally, they manage essential transportation records, and conduct monthly bus evacuation drills. In case of emergencies, the Bus Driver is responsible for the safe evacuation of children.

Additionally, the Bus Driver will be included in some classroom activities to help monitor children and assist with activities as needed. Serving as a vital link between parents and the Early Learning Center, this role is fundamental in fostering a supportive community for families.
