• Planning and teaching classes as assigned, following course descriptions, syllabi, and departmental guidelines.
• Beginning and ending classes on schedule and covering all relevant learning outcomes.
• Maintaining academic standards and classroom behavior to ensure a conducive learning environment, communicating with students weekly, and responding to student emails promptly.
• Evaluating students using various methods and informing each student of scores received on each assessment in a timely manner.
• Using Cleveland State email for administrative purposes and responding to student questions via Cleveland State email promptly.
• Meeting deadlines for all administrative requests such as submitting personnel paperwork, acknowledging contracts, academic activity and assessment reports, and final grades.
• Submitting requests for equipment, supplies, textbooks, and other instructional aids through the department chair, program coordinator/director, or lead teacher.

Master’s degree or higher in a qualifying field—such as Health, Physical Education, Public Health, Wellness, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or a related field; or Master’s degree or higher with 18 graduate semester hours combining qualifying fields including those above. Retention of BLS certification with the American Heart Association is required to teach Safety Education/First Aid/CPR.

Applications are accepted continuously and reviewed on a term-by-term basis (fall, spring, summer). Postings close yearly on October 31; applicants must re‑apply each year to keep their application active.

Submit a cover letter, transcript, resume/CV, and three references. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable for initial review; official transcripts will be required upon hiring. Applicants may be subject to a background check.

• Master’s degree: $550 per credit hour
• Master’s plus 30 semester hours (ABD): $575 per credit hour
• Doctorate: $600 per credit hour
