Instructors provide quality instruction for student learning and maintain a positive learning environment in the classroom. The major emphasis is on teaching and evaluating students. Classes are taught in a variety of formats at several locations, including online. Instructors also communicate with students between classes and are responsible for several administrative duties such as reporting on academic activity and submitting final grades.

• Plan and teach classes as assigned, following course descriptions, syllabi, and departmental guidelines.
• Begin and end all classes as scheduled, covering all relevant learning outcomes.
• Maintain academic standards and classroom behavior, ensuring an environment conducive to learning. Communicate with students weekly and respond to student emails promptly.
• Evaluate students using a variety of methods and inform each student of scores in a timely manner.
• Use Cleveland State email for administrative purposes and respond to student questions via Cleveland State email promptly.
• Meet deadlines for all administrative requests such as submitting personnel paperwork, acknowledging contracts, academic activity and assessment reports, and final grades.
• Submit requests through the department chair, program coordinator/director, or lead teacher for equipment, supplies, textbooks, and other instructional aids.

Associate degree or higher in Medical Assisting plus CMA (AAMA) or RMA (AMT) credential and a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in an ambulatory care setting performing administrative and clinical medical assisting duties.

Applications for adjunct faculty positions are accepted continuously and reviewed by the department when openings become available. Future teaching assignments are on a term‑by‑term basis, which may include fall, spring, and summer. Postings close yearly on October 31; to maintain your application within the system, you will need to re‑apply each year.

Application packet should include a cover letter, transcript, resume/CV, and three references. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable for the application process; official transcripts will be required upon hire. Applicants may be subject to a background check.

• Less than Bachelor’s degree – $500 per credit hour
• Bachelor’s degree – $525 per credit hour
• Master’s degree – $550 per credit hour
• Master’s plus 30 semester hours (ABD) – $575 per credit hour
• Doctorate – $600 per credit hour
