Safety, Health, and Environmental Manager

Position Summary

The Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining company policies that comply with local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations at the assigned repair shop. The role involves designing facilities, work areas, and procedures, overseeing the preparation and updating of environmental policy manuals, and ensuring compliance with all regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with EPA, OSHA, DOT, and DEQ regulations.
  • Create, organize, and track reports and logs of all health and safety information.
  • Maintain recordkeeping and reporting in accordance with all regulations.
  • Interpret data and observations to advise management on compliance and best practices.
  • Minimize environmental liability by permitting regulated activities and conducting audits of wastewater, solid waste, and air emissions.
  • Coordinate worker’s compensation claims and monitor claim processing times.
  • Purchase and issue personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure it meets all standards.
  • Implement current safety programs, facilitate the Plant Safety Committee, conduct inspections, and lead incidentാക്കി investigations and job safety analyses.
  • Conduct safety orientation, maintain safety files, and coordinate safety luncheons and audits.
  • Ensure employees handling hazardous chemicals receive proper training and PPE.
  • Maintain fire safety readiness, oversee inspections, and train employees in fire prevention and equipment use.
  • Ensure supervisory personnel are trained in Basic First Aid and that equipment is available.
  • Coordinate the facility Confined Space Entry Rescue Team and Hazardous Material Response Team.
  • Maintain all employee training and certifications in compliance with regulations.
  • Oversee security and plant protection, including visitor sign‑in and intrusion investigations.
  • Assess risks, identify hazards, conduct inspections and audits, and implement corrective actions.
  • Promote environmental awareness through training and communications.
  • Maintain personal training and certifications.
  • Support quality projects and Responsible Care initiatives.
Skills & Specifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research and analysis abilities with a passion for problem solving.
  • Proficient with MS Office and adaptable to new software or reporting tools.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong multitasking and time‑management skills.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Willingness and ability to wear PPE such as safety shoes, glasses, hard hats organisator.
  • Ability to access tank‑car manways and navigate confined spaces.
  • Ability to hear and see safety warnings in the plant.
  • 70 vision correctable to 20/20 for inspection activities.
  • Capable of lifting and carrying 50‑lb objects and navigating uneven or tight spaces.
  • Willingness to travel can be car, train, or airplane.
Responsibilities for Personal Quality

The incumbent works to meet internal and external customer expectations by preventing errors, developing and implementing quality improvement projects, and actively participating in the Responsible Care Management System.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field (minimum 5–7 years of experience in a similar role).
  • Haus? Extensively hands‑on experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment may be considered in lieu of a college degree.
  • Preferred certifications:
    Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
