Farm Fleet Manager, Clewiston

Position Summary

As Farm Fleet Manager, you will oversee maintenance, repair, and performance of farm equipment and vehicles at the Clewiston shop and surrounding field operations. You will lead a team of mechanics, manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs, and coordinate with farm and harvest leaders to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive maintenance schedules for tractors, harvesters, implements, trucks, trailers, irrigation pumps, and small engines.
  • Monitor equipment performance and proactively address issues to prevent costly breakdowns.
  • Oversee all corrective maintenance to ensure timely and cost‑effective repairs.
  • Coordinate rapid response repairs in the field to minimize downtime during critical farming operations.
  • Maintain a mobile support plan for mechanics to service equipment directly in production areas.
  • Lead a team of shop and field mechanics, ensuring proper staffing levels, balanced workloads, and high performance.
  • Provide hands‑on training in diagnostics, repair techniques, preventive maintenance, and safety compliance.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service histories, and inspection reports for all farm equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Manage parts inventory, build vendor relationships, and evaluate cost‑saving opportunities.
  • Assist in developing the annual fleet maintenance budget and monitor expenses against targets.
  • Prepare reports on equipment utilization, downtime, repair costs, and lifecycle planning.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in fleet management, agricultural equipment maintenance, or a related field; at least 2 years in a supervisory role preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of agricultural and commercial equipment (tractors, trucks, harvesters, irrigation systems, engines, hydraulics).
  • Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Experience managing a preventive maintenance program and leading a team of mechanics.
  • Working knowledge of inventory control systems, maintenance tracking software, and basic budgeting practices.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills; able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under time‑sensitive conditions.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL certification a plus.
Working Conditions
  • Onsite at the Clewiston shop with frequent visits to farm fields.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, and dust.
  • Extended hours and flexible scheduling during peak planting and harvest seasons.
  • Occasional travel to other farm locations for support or training purposes.
  • Must adhere to strict safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

    Work may include high‑pressure situations during critical farming operations.
Physical Requirements
  • Lifting, carrying, and moving heavy tools and equipment.
  • Climbing on and around farm machinery and vehicles.
  • Bending, kneeling, and crouching to access equipment and repair areas.
  • Working in confined spaces or awkward positions during maintenance.
  • Operating mechanical tools and diagnostic equipment safely.
  • Standing, walking, or performing repetitive tasks for an extended period of time.
