About Us
We are a growing, medium-sized bakery manufacturer based in New Jersey, dedicated to producing high-quality baked goods for retail and wholesale customers. As our operations expand, we are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accountant to join our finance team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective cost management, and compliance with accounting standards.
Position Summary
The Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting activities, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting management with timely reporting and analysis. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a proactive mindset, and excellent communication across departments. This role also involves designing and implementing financial procedures and systems to ensure accurate data collection throughout the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain general ledger accounts, journal entries, and reconciliations.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including vendor payments and customer invoicing.
- Oversee payroll preparation and assist with employee expense reporting.
- Track bakery production costs, raw material usage, and inventory adjustments to ensure accurate costing.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations (including sales tax and payroll tax filings).
- Support internal and external audits, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
- Partner with operations and procurement teams to monitor inventory, wastage, and production efficiency.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in financial management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or food production.
- Solid knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting/ERP software (e.g., SAP Business One, Quick Books, Sage, Net Suite, or similar).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross‑functional team environment.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time‑management abilities.
