Job Responsibilities
  • Inventory:
    Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies; support the drug inventory process, including rotation and restocking of drug dispensing areas.
  • Regulatory compliance:
    Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Communication and teamwork:
    Communicate with other team members, physicians and patients in an effective and positive manner.
  • Prepare intravenous admixtures according to established aseptic techniques; assist in accurately labeling and dispensing inpatient unit dose medications; deliver medications to patient care areas as needed.
  • Assist in compounding medication by weighing, measuring, mixing, blending, filtering, distilling, emulsifying and titrating, according to standard pharmacy practices and department policy.
  • Delivers and fills controlled substances and other medications to nursing units' ADCs timely and accurately; assist in reconciling daily narcotic discrepancies.
  • Prepare and load medications into ADC with appropriate barcode scanning.
  • Answer phones according to established etiquette and direct calls to proper personnel.
  • Prepare and package hazardous medications and other special handling medications under pharmacist supervision.
  • Maintain all necessary paperwork, legal documents, and records for all medications prepared for administration.
  • Participate in departmental quality‑assurance and safety activities for drug usage, infection control, and handling hazardous materials per regulations; assist in collecting and reviewing patient‑specific data used by pharmacists for monitoring drug therapy.
  • Assume responsibility for job duties in the safest possible manner, ensuring personal safety and reporting hazards immediately to management.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adhere to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), or GED equivalent program.
  • Effective oral and written English communication.
  • Strong ability to multitask.
  • Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Experience
  • At least one year of pharmacy experience (outpatient or inpatient).
Required Licenses and Certifications
  • Valid New Jersey Pharmacy Technician License.
  • PTCB or ExCPT Certification required within 6 months of start of employment, unless hired prior to July 2024 or actively enrolled in an ACPE‑accredited school of pharmacy or another allied health program.
Compensation

Minimum rate of $23.97 hourly. HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency; the posted rate is a reasonable good‑faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market‑competitive total rewards package.
