Sunday–Thursday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
The Lab Assistant performs routine laboratory functions with precision and accuracy to support laboratory professional staff and ensure efficient production. This role supports specimen processing, equipment maintenance, and quality activities while adhering to safety regulations and PPE requirements
. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced laboratory environment while collaborating respectfully with coworkers and internal/external customers.
- Sort and receive laboratory specimens within the department
- Perform routine instrument maintenance on select equipment
- Centrifuge specimens, print labels, record temperature data, and manage specimen storage/retrieval
- Prepare reagents and media as required
- Prepare specimens for testing, including worklists, aliquoting, clot/fibrin checks, inoculation, and slide preparation
- Perform assigned QA/QC duties and resolve pending lists
- Locate missing samples and decontaminate work areas
- Conduct weekly radioactive wipe tests and maintain department records
- Change gas cylinders and dispose of biohazardous materials
- Use laboratory computer systems and PCs
- Complete training and competency checklists as required

- Strong attention to detail and ability to retain learned information
- Basic computer skills and comfort using laboratory systems
- Ability to follow safety regulations and PPE requirements
Preferred
Skills:
- Medical assistant training
- Prior exposure to laboratory environments
Additional

- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on courtesy and respect
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and customers
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
- Math and science coursework preferred
- Experience: No prior work experience required
