Early Intervention - Evaluator
Hours:
8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Some flexibility in schedule is required in order to accommodate family schedules.

1. Conduct Evaluations for NJEIS:
Conduct and document evaluations of children referred from the NJ Early Intervention System within federal and state timelines
Develop a comprehensive and professional evaluation report, which includes all areas of development, providing Standardized Scores (Z-Scores) and clearly stating the areas in which the child qualifies for EI (if applicable), in language that is understandable to the family. This report is written at the time of the evaluation in the family’s home and the family is provided with an electronic copy.
Administer developmental evaluation in natural environment (home, day car, park, etc.), electronic administration and scoring of Battelle Developmental Inventory – 2nd Edition (BDI-2), other developmental assessment utilizing play activities and evaluative tools.
Determine the need for additional assessments prior to the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) meeting and arrange for completion of assessments, as needed.
Provide the family with suggestions, strategies and descriptions of activities that they may utilize while waiting for the development of their IFSP.
Perform additional assessments, both before and after IFSP’s as requested, with the expectation of attending the subsequent IFSP on review meeting.
Process all evaluations and required forms within required timelines. Submit all reports and documentation within the required timelines.
2. NJEIS System
Collaboration:
Collaborate with the Service Coordination Unit, TET Independent Contractors and any other members of the NJEIS service team to deliver identified evaluations and services within federal and state timelines.
Participate as a member of the IFSP team, along with the family and service coordinator, to collaborate on the development of a service plan, including both current development and transition to preschool plans, which will meet the needs of the child and family.
Manage appointments, and professional communication with other providers and service coordination unit to coordinate and reschedule appointments that are convenient to family.
Report all communication related to evaluation dates, eligibility status, and client contact information on a daily basis in required format.
Determine IFSP date(s) with the family at the completion of the evaluation if appropriate, and communicate with the OSCU related to the IFSP date.
Notify the ongoing service coordinator of any family needs that are identified at the time of the evaluation process (social Service needs, absence of toys, disabled family members, etc.)
Maintain appropriate, professional, and required documentation related to client contacts, reasons for delays in scheduling, and any issues that my affect the meeting of state mandated timelines, guidelines or requirements, utilizing required format.
Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling appointments with clients.
3. Training, Development and Meetings
Participate in the BDI-2 training program and become proficient in using the BDI-2 Testing Tool and the laptops, including the daily upload of electronic BDI-2 reports from the laptop onto the BDI-2 website
