The Pre-Analytical Assistant I provides essential support within the Technical Operations and Specimen Processing teams. This role handles, prepares, and processes specimens to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery to laboratory departments in a fast-paced, biohazard laboratory environment. The role supports quality outcomes through precise specimen handling, documentation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

• Perform specimen handling tasks including sorting, racking, centrifugation, aliquoting, storage, and delivery to laboratory departments.
• Identify specimen discrepancies such as incorrect types, missing information, or handling issues and escalate appropriately for resolution.
• Demonstrate understanding of compliance policies and test ordering requirements, including use of translation tables and directories of services.
• Accurately complete all required documentation within established time frames.
• Meet quality and productivity standards within 6 months of training completion.
• Support departmental operations during coworker absences and peak workload periods.
• Learn additional functions within Technical Operations to support progression and cross-coverage.

• Develop working knowledge of how Technical Operations and Specimen Processing impact testing quality and results.
• Maintain composure and accuracy while working under pressure in a production environment.
• Adhere to company core values, safety standards, compliance requirements, and work process procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with 5S workplace standards.
• Demonstrate flexibility with work assignments, schedule changes, and evolving departmental needs.

• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a production setting.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills across all staff levels.
• Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and maneuver large carts and specimen racks.
• Willingness to work in a biohazard environment while following all safety protocols.

• High school diploma or GED

• Medical background with knowledge of medical terminology
• Previous experience in a production or laboratory environment
• Familiarity with mainframe computer systems
