Sr. Manager, Engineering - Process & Reliability at Quest Diagnostics. This role leads and oversees the BME operations for large, complex sites to ensure service program efficiency and to satisfy the equipment support needs of the company.

The purpose of the BME Senior Manager position is to develop, coordinate, and expand the BME program as necessary to ensure all aspects of service (internal and external) for all lab instrumentation and general lab equipment satisfy the quality and regulatory requirements and service needs for each lab, enabling operations to run efficiently, profitably, and with excellent quality. The Sr. Manager applies experience to multiple sites (directly or in advisory roles) to uphold all aspects of service quality and drive improvements for the BME program and external service providers.

• Lead and optimize the regional implementation of the CMMS/EAM System across instrument platforms to track uptime and downtime and automate KPI measurement; provide end-user training.
• Provide strategic guidance and collaborate with enterprise operations matrix leadership teams for implementation of automation platforms, operations excellence, reliability, vendor management, and key projects.
• Lead, develop, and manage overall operations and distribution of resources (staffing, budgets, and outside vendor services) of the BME program, in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders and business partners.
• Review, audit, and participate in decision-support activities related to problem diagnosis, repair, preventive maintenance, and quality assurance of equipment.
• Participate in the development of annual goals and objectives related to supporting the growth of equipment support services (local and enterprise-wide).
• Implement and manage large/complex projects enterprise-wide using operational excellence and project/program management skills.
• Develop and implement technical training for staff (onboarding materials, maintenance procedures).
• Serve as a technical resource for the BME team and lab; share best practices with other Quest sites and aid in their development.
• Oversee evaluation of equipment service needs and communicate with clinical equipment users on proper device use and safety.
• Evaluate maintenance and cost data related to laboratory equipment to deliver expected service productivity and quality.
• Develop effective written reports and presentations on operational and technical issues.
• Develop BME staff through coaching and mentoring; hold staff accountable and provide leadership where performance does not meet expectations.
• Ensure service quality at assigned site(s) and collaborate with internal and external teams to promote high-quality service.
• Collaborate with vendors and external service leadership to deliver excellent service.
• Collaborate with R&D, technical departments, and vendors as appropriate to ensure new instrumentation and assays are performing and maintained optimally.
• Work closely with internal and external customers to resolve problems and issues through appropriate channels.
• Collaborate with fellow managers and leadership to align BME and Lab initiatives.
• Collaborate with Site Ops leaders and enterprise-wide operations to proactively plan all lab projects involving instrumentation.

• Required
  
  Work Experience:
  
  Minimum of three (3) years in a managerial role overseeing a service program (or similar).

• Demonstrated leadership in Maintenance & Reliability, CCMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) with 6+ years of experience.
• Demonstrated leadership in continuous improvement, process management, project management and change management, including leading large or complex projects with multiple work streams (6+ years).

• Daily automation and high-complexity operations in a regulated industry.
• BME technical expertise.
• Preferred:
  High-complexity instrumentation/automation for clinical lab settings (e.g., LCMS, large chemistry analyzers, automated liquid handling robots).
• Knowledge of laboratory equipment types, electronic theory and technology, BME and general lab safety, project management, CMMS, and regulatory requirements (CAP, NY, ISO).

• Proficiency with computer software (word processing, spreadsheets, workflow systems, inventory systems, databases).
• Ability to quickly learn new procedures; evaluate staff; strong verbal and written communication; leadership; coaching and accountability; staff development; program development; scheduling; decision making;
  Gemba.

• Bachelor's degree required;
  Master's degree preferred.

• Ability to navigate facilities and labs/sites; ability to travel; ability to sit or stand for extended periods; ability to lift light to moderately heavy objects; must work in a biohazard environment and comply with safety policies.
