Customer Service Rep, Retail & Store Manager
Stew Leonard’s, a family‑owned and operated fresh food store founded in 1969, has locations in Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey. Team Leader BakeryFull Time Hourly – $17.00 to $23.00 per hour
depending on qualifications and experience
Must be at least 18 years and older
Position DescriptionTeam Leaders supervises, guide and motivate team members to deliver excellent customer service and the highest quality products. Team Leaders aids management in hiring and training new team members, updating management on team member performance and acts as a liaison between team members and upper management.
Your day-to-day- Answers team member questions, helps with team member problems, and oversees team member work for quality and guideline compliance
- Provides encouragement to team members, including communicating deadlines and goals
- Assists management with hiring process and new team member training
- Ensure production estimates are met and displays are full and merchandised, with appropriate signage
- Provides quality customer service, including interacting with customers, answering customer inquiries, and effectively handling customer complaints
- Participate in monthly, quarterly, and yearly department inventories
- Other projects, as needed
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least one year experience with product knowledge
- On occasion, safely operate bakery ovens, mixers, and all other equipment used in the day‑to‑day operation of the bakery department
- Base knowledge of all areas of the bakery: cakes, breads, bagels, donuts, rice cakes
- Great customer service skills
- Good computer skills and a basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, the HRIS and Great Plains (purchase order/transfer system)
- Good organizational skills
- The ability to delegate tasks and communicate directions clearly

- Due to the use of the baking ovens, the temperature in the department maybe warmer than room temperature.
- The position requires frequent walking, standing, lifting, and pulling with a maximum of 30lbs and occasionally climbing, pushing, and reaching.
- Greet customers with a friendly smile and positive attitude, ensuring that each customer feels welcome and appreciated.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure the smooth operation of the store, offering assistance and support where needed.
- Improve and maintain the efficiency of the store in order to reach success.
