St Peter’s Hospice is a local charity which provides care and support for those living with a progressive life‑limiting illness and their families in the Bristol, South Gloucestershire, and North Somerset area both at the Hospice and in the community. Our charity shops (including eBay and Depop) raise around £3,000,000 per year which goes directly towards providing vital patient care and support services;

as a retail shop volunteer you will play an important part in raising this incredible amount.

Charity shops are one of the most eco‑friendly ways to shop on the high street, by volunteering with us you will be part of a sustainable fashion movement which helps reduce carbon emissions and prevents clothes from going to landfill.

This is a stock room opportunity in our Clifton Village charity shop on: 3 Boyce’s Avenue, Clifton, Bristol, BS8 4AA

• Prepare goods for sale; sorting through new donations and organising into categories
• Steaming and hanging garments to a high standard ready for the shop floor
• Some interaction with customers in store and accepting donations from the public
• Helping to identify items which may be suited to our eBay shop at Avonmouth
• Supporting on the shop floor where required

We’re looking for enthusiastic and self‑motivated volunteers who have a couple of spare hours a week to commit to our great cause.

• Strong teamwork skills are important alongside an ability to work independently when required
• Good listening and communication skills
• Prepared to handle a variety of goods in a busy working environment
• Friendly and polite when interacting with other volunteers, staff and customers
• Hard working with a positive attitude
• If you have an interest in a particular area such as fashion or books this can be utilised in store
• Ability to work in a thorough manner with great attention to detail

We would ideally be looking for 4 hours per week, but the role can be flexible around your lectures and other commitments; we can work together to find a time which best fits in with your lifestyle.

• 20% volunteer discount in our shops so you can shop sustainably and grab some bargains whilst supporting the hospice
• Experience working in a team and independently within a charity retail setting, building links with your local Bristol community
• The satisfaction of knowing the time you are giving means the hospice teams can continue to be there for our patients and their families when they need us most
• The chance to build upon a passion for antiques, fashion, books, and music among other interests (there are all sorts of things donated to our shops!)
• St Peter’s Hospice is a well established and respected charity in the Bristol area; it can be a real boost to a CV when applying for jobs in and around the city
• Any volunteer hours will count towards the Bristol PLUS Award
