Location: Clinton Charter Township

As part of the Indian Education Grant Consortium, the Indian Ed Tutor helps students in grades K - 12 who have Native American ancestry and need support in core subject areas. Our consortium consists of Chippewa Valley Schools and L'Anse Creuse Public Schools. The Indian Ed Tutor can create a flexible working schedule to offer tutoring services between the two districts of the consortium.

  • At Will Position.
  • Pay is $18.47-$19.99 depending on work experience.
  • Work day up to 6.75 hrs / day
  • Works only days school is in session.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support a positive learning environment by providing educational support to students while working under the direction of a certified teacher
  • Assist students with homework, projects, test preparation, papers, research and other academic tasks, as needed.
  • Work with students to help them understand key concepts, especially those learned in the classroom
  • Teach skills to improve academic performance, including study strategies, note-taking skills and approaches to answering test questions
  • Offering feedback on progress to students' teachers where appropriate
  • Maintain 100% confidentiality in all areas pertaining to students.
  • Assist with cultural workshops offered 2 - 3 times per year for Native American families within our consortium.
  • Provide documentation & data required for grant reporting.
Qualifications
  • Must have completed 60 credit hours of undergraduate courses, required
  • Educational field of study, preferred
  • Experience working with diverse student populations, preferred.
Abilities
  • Ability to be caring, understanding, and friendly towards students, required.
  • Ability to communicate well, required.
  • Ability to read and interpret school policies and handbook, required.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and community, required.
