Summary

The Engineering Supervisor supports and reports to the Engineering Manager by supervising day-to-day engineering activities, coordinating projects, and leading technical staff to meet company objectives for product design, development, and continuous improvement. This role focuses on execution, team leadership, and technical oversight while ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and performance standards.

Responsibilities
  • Supervises and coordinates daily activities of engineering staff to ensure project timelines, quality standards, and cost objectives are met.
  • Assists the Engineering Manager in planning, organizing, and prioritizing engineering projects and workloads.
  • Provides technical guidance and support to engineers and designers in product development, process improvement, and problem resolution.
  • Oversees preparation and maintenance of engineering documentation, including specifications, drawings, reports, and process data.
  • Monitors project progress, identifies risks or issues, and communicates status updates to the Engineering Manager.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of engineering policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Supports research and development efforts by evaluating design concepts, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborates with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and other departments to support production efficiency, product quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Reviews product designs and process changes to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assists with cost analysis, budgeting inputs, and evaluation of engineering-related expenditures.
  • Works with the Engineering Manager to identify training needs and provides coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to engineering staff.
  • Participates in root cause analysis and corrective action efforts related to quality, safety, or processing issues.
  • Assists Engineering Manager in the development and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensures compliance with company Quality and Environmental policies and objectives.
  • Follows all safety, environmental, and quality procedures and instructions.
  • Adheres to all employment rules and regulations.

Supervisory

This position directly supervises assigned engineering staff and is responsible for day-to-day direction, work assignments, performance feedback, and supporting employee development. Final hiring, disciplinary actions, and performance management decisions are made in coordination with the Engineering Manager.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, exempt position that regularly requires 40-50 hours per week.

Travel

Travel is primarily local, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or related discipline preferred)
  • 5 years of relevant engineering experience, including demonstrated technical leadership or project coordination experience
  • 3-5 years of Supervisory or team‑lead experience
