Software Engineer, AI Engineer (Applied/Software), Hardware Engineer
I'm searching for a Quantum Algorithm Engineer, for a company that has raised over $130M in funding so far. The role will include bridging the gap between quantum algorithms and quantum hardware through the development of efficient and hardware ready software solutions.
A key part of the work will be optimizing and implementing quantum circuits for execution across target architectures whilst building and maintaining frameworks and tools to support circuit compilation, transpilation and deployment.
Therefore, a collaborative mindset will be crucial, as a successful candidate will partner closely with both research and hardware teams, benchmarking circuit performance, identify opportunities for optimization and contribute to the advancement of internal quantum software, enabling scalable and high performance quantum computing workflows.
What You’ll Work On:- Implement and optimize quantum circuits for efficient execution on target hardware architectures.
- Develop and maintain software tools and frameworks for compiling/transpiling, and deploying quantum circuits.
- Profile and benchmark circuit performance, identifying bottlenecks and driving improvements.
- Work closely with research and hardware teams to translate algorithmic designs into hardware-ready implementations.
- Contribute to the development of internal quantum software infrastructure and tooling.
- An PhD in physics, computer science, mathematics or a related field.
- Strong software engineering skills, with experience in scientific computing environments (Python, C++, or similar).
- Hands-on experience with quantum circuit design and quantum software frameworks (e.g. Qiskit, Penny Lane, Cirq, or equivalent).
- Understanding of quantum gate sets, circuit compilation, and hardware constraints.
- Proven ability to deliver robust, maintainable code in a collaborative team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of quantum error correction codes and fault-tolerant circuit synthesis.
- Experience with noise modeling, error mitigation techniques, or hardware-aware compilation.
- Familiarity with classical HPC or distributed computing as applied to quantum simulation.
- Track record of contributions to open-source quantum software projects.
