We’re hiring a motivated, self-starting Software Quality Assurance Engineer to be the first internal QA resource at On The Clock , a growing SaaS company focused on time tracking, scheduling, and embedded payroll services for small and mid-sized businesses. You’ll ensure product quality across our web and mobile apps, while helping us build out (and own) our QA processes and best practices.

You’ll be embedded across multiple agile development teams (internal and external), owning the “QA” phase of each story or ticket, performing manual QA, assisting in regression and release testing, and managing beta test workflows.
This is a high-ownership role ideal for someone who wants to learn and grow, and lead in defining how QA is done at On The Clock .
Base pay range$65,000.00/yr - $75,000.00/yr
Responsibilities- Perform manual QA testing on new features and bug fixes for our web and mobile apps.
- Own the QA stage of our Scrum process: validate tickets, report issues, and either approve for the next stage or back to developers with clear, concise feedback.
- Track stories for approvals and push-backs, and report QA trends and risks to the team.
- Plan and execute regression testing before major releases.
- Create and manage Asana testing boards for internal beta testing.
- Validate and triage issues found by internal testers; create detailed Jira tickets for developers.
- Collaborate closely with developers, product, and support to understand upcoming features and identify test coverage needs.
- Learn the ins and outs of our product and test 3rd party integrations end-to-end.
- Perform light SQL/database validation when needed.
- Research and recommend tools or process improvements (AI, automation, test coverage).
- Help define and build our internal quality assurance strategy over time.
- Minimum 2+ years as a Software QA Engineer (or equivalent), responsible for manual QA testing and validation within diverse SaaS/Web/Mobile environments.
- Self-starter with a growth mindset and a desire to take ownership and improve processes.
- Proven ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within groups to identify bugs and improvements while providing precise and detailed updates to internal and external teams.
- Excels in an agile environment and in an organization that continues to grow and refine QA functionality and processes.
Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with Postman, Playwright, Selenium.
- Experience with Jira and Asana.
- Experience with SQL queries and backend validation.
- Exposure to load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Locust).
- Light scripting or test automation experience.
- Experience testing third-party integrations.
- Experience leveraging AI-powered tools for automated test case generation, bug detection, or exploratory testing.
