As a Registered Nurse at Mercy One, you will provide and direct safe, effective, and culturally competent care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions. Through evidence-based practice, you will utilize critical thinking to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate outcome-based care. The Acute Care RN manages a diverse patient population with varying levels of acuity, including post‑operative, medical, telemetry, and neurologic patients.
You will supervise and coordinate care provided by LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, and other nursing team members, facilitate communication with physicians, patients and families, and interdisciplinary team members, and uphold Mercy One’s performance expectations and values.

Shift12 Hour Night Shift
Essential Functions- Conduct assessments
- Identify patient problems and develop plans of care
- Implement outcome/goal‑based plans of care
- Evaluate patient progress and revise plans as needed
- Communicate relevant clinical information to the team to optimize patient outcomes/goals
- Demonstrate clinical competence
- Manage telemetry and cardiac monitoring when applicable
- Provide age‑appropriate care on the assigned unit
- Adhere to safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures
- Maintain knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, and Mercy One policies to ensure ethical, professional behavior
- Night Shift, 0.9 FTE (36 hours per week)
- RNs work 12‑hour shifts
- Day shift: 7:00 am – 7:30 pm, Night shift: 7:00 pm – 7:30 am
- Rotating weekends/holidays
- Associate degree in nursing required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Current or compact state licensure as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of Iowa
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required only if the unit has telemetry monitoring capabilities
- Completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire
