Position Summary To provide and support educational services for the identification, evaluation and educational programming for students grades PK-12. This position will assist with reducing chronic absenteeism, case management for homeless students and families, providing individual and small group therapy to students, and implementing and assisting with MTSS supports relating to mental health.
Essential Duties & Functions
- Organizes and has ongoing communication with outside agencies providing wraparound services within the school.
- Works with families to obtain outside services when needed by making referrals to outside agencies and coordinates those services through the school.
- Helps with scheduling of wraparound services in school that fits with the agency's schedule, as well as the students' school schedule.
- Forms relationships with families to determine barriers that the student or family may have that is preventing attendance or the student being successful.
- Provides case management for ongoing monitoring of homeless families' needs.
- Coordinates with teaching staff and outside agencies to determine needs of the students that are not being met.
- Helps families find resources that they need to eliminate any barriers.
- Organizes and facilitates therapeutic groups that would meet the needs of the students emotionally, behaviorally, and academically.
- Organizes and facilitates social emotional learning within the classroom.
- Organizes and facilitates ongoing professional development with staff regarding social emotional curriculum and becoming a trauma informed school.
- Helps staff organize behavioral interventions through the MTSS process.
- Conducts home visits when necessary.
- Provides direct services to students in crisis and helps formulate safety plans with school staff, outside agencies, and the family.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in social work preferred.
- LMSW or LISW required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience
- Appropriately licensed/certified by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners.
- Training in education and understanding of public school services and special education are preferred.
- Two years of successful experience in public school social work or child-related social work preferred.

- Sitting at a desk and utilizing a computer for extended periods of time.
- Able to bend and lift up to 25 lbs. Office supplies, paper for copiers, etc.
- Able to climb stairs and conduct home visits.
