Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a MD or compact RN license and EKG rhythm interpretation proficiency.

• Work on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
• Day shifts, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Patient ratio is 1:6
• Care involves cardiac monitoring, genitourinary/renal cases, and IV therapy/phlebotomy
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Every other weekend and holiday shifts are required
• Primary responsibilities include managing telemetry and med/surg patients and performing cardiac monitoring
• First time travelers are accepted for this position
• Online modules must be completed prior to start and during orientation
• Modules are recorded via transcripts, with up to 4 hours billable
• Return staff must have a gap of at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Holiday and weekend coverage is required on rotation
• No changes to requested time off once submitted; maximum of 7 days per contract with no RTO in the first two weeks

• Active MD or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry RN experience required
• BLS and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required
• ACLS certification preferred
• Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with at least 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms
• Cerner EMR experience required
• Two supervisory references required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Locals within 60 miles accepted at a lower rate
• Must not have been employed at the facility within the past year to be eligible
